Freeride school in Gudauri

My schools are 5 days of intensive training in groups of up to 6 people. This program suits you if you want to dive fully into snowboarding, meet like-minded riders and take your riding to a new level. We will revisit and polish the basics, learn more advanced techniques and use them in different conditions. On one of the days we will run an introductory practice session on avalanche rescue.

Sessions last 4 hours, so you still have time to ride for fun or simply rest. After these 20 hours of training you will notice a significant improvement in your riding technique!

The program is shaped by the group's level, but the schools are basically divided into Level 1 and Level 2. Please read the descriptions below and assess your abilities honestly: it is the key to comfortable and interesting sessions.

Levels

Level 1

You handle green runs with confidence, even if your technique isn't perfect. The main thing is that you can ride them without stopping, controlling your speed and line. You may also be able to ride a blue run, though not as easily. You might have tried red runs but don't feel comfortable there yet. You probably haven't tried black runs, and for now they seem too steep and difficult.

This group focuses on polishing the basics and moving on to harder slopes, but we will also try off-piste riding, carving and, if you like, even the snow park.

Level 2

You ride red runs with confidence, even if your technique isn't perfect. The main thing is that you can ride them without stopping, controlling your speed and line. You can also ride black runs, though not as easily. If your level is higher but you want to work on technique, this program suits you too.

At the start we will go over the basics to make sure you use the most suitable techniques for different conditions. Then we move on to more advanced techniques: carving, basic flat freestyle, changing turn radius and turn dynamics, eliminating drift, achieving an early edge change and so on.

We will also look at how to use different techniques to keep control of the board when the terrain and snow conditions change, as at this level we focus on off-piste riding.
